Joanna Sarbiewska – Phd, works at the Institute for Cultural Research at the University of Gdansk. She collaborates and is a member of the European Academy of Religion (Bologna). She works on the philosophy of mysticism, culture and audiovisual art in a phenomenological and post-secular perspective. In her current research, she proposes a new interpretation of deconstruction, kenosis and via negativa in terms of apophatic mysticism and its application on the grounds of transrational ontology, post- and trans-humanism. She is the author of the book Ontology and Aesthetics of Werner Herzog's Film Images, as well as many scientific articles published in prestigious journals. She made the film Oglądy (Views), based on the short story The Room by Jean-Paul Sartre. She was president of the Gdansk branch of the Polish Society for Film and Media Studies and vice president of the Pomeranian Philosophical and Theological Society. She has been a speaker at international conferences (organized by the European Academy of Religion, Society for the Phenomenology of Religious Experience, International Federation of Philosophical Societies, European Network for Cinema and Media Studies, among others).
